Pep Guardiola has been dubbed a "massive scruff" for wearing a hoodie ahead of the FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Manchester United.

The all-Manchester finale takes place today (June 3) at Wembley but despite the lofty occasion, the Spaniard decided against a suit in the 21C degree weather in London.

The Man City manager instead wore a green hoodie while his players donned black t-shirts and trousers, a decision that didn't go too well with some of football's traditionalists online.

In what is the oldest cup competition in world football, having been founded in 1871, teams have traditionally worn club suits for the finale of the FA Cup, an aspect of heritage the 2022/23 Premier League winners have decided against.

Fans across social media had words for Guardiola, with one person tweeting: "Pep in a hoody the massive scruff" while another wrote: "Wearing a hoody for the cup final. Bad scruff. Disgusting."

The criticism seemed to be unwavering on Twitter with one user praising United's decision to stick with tradition as they wrote: "United players arriving wearing suits and City players in hoodies and t shirts sums up the difference between us. United ooze class."

Another fan lamented City's choice of attire as they said: "Man City turning up for the FA Cup final in t shirts and Pep in a hoodie! What's that all about?

"Whatever happened to it being a formal occasion? Stick on a shirt, tie and suit."

Prior to the warm-ups, fans online continued with one user demanding a certain level of respect for the FA Cup Final while also writing that the players should "sing the national anthem".

Some Man United fans suggested that their decision to turn up with suits may have already resulted in their FA Cup triumph.

One fan wrote: "The City lot have turned up in t.shirts and track suits. We've won this already!" while another added: "United turning up in suits whilst City look like they're ready for security detail at Glastonbury. We already deserve to win."

Manchester City have already made history during the game, after midfielder Ilkay Gundogan scored the fastest goal in FA Cup final history to open the scoring for Pep Guardiola's men.
